Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s Sister Gita Mehta Passes Away

On Saturday, Gita Mehta sister of Odisha’s chief minister Naveen Pattnayak passed away in Delhi at the age of 80.

She was the daughter of the legendary Biju Patnaik and was known for her significant contributions as an author, documentary filmmaker, and journalist. Gita Mehta was also the elder sister of Odisha’s Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik. She was married to the late Sonny Mehta, a well-known American publisher.

Born in 1943 to Biju and Gyan Patnaik in Delhi, Gita Mehta received her education in both India and the University of Cambridge in the UK. Throughout her career, she authored several notable books, including “Karma Cola,” “Snake and Ladders,” “A River Sutra,” “Raj,” and “The Eternal Ganesha.”
